Wishin' On A KitKat Break

Juggle ongoing! As of this writing, li'l lady is already sound asleep with Bunch while I try to stay up to get some work done. For the past weeks, my crazy schedule has been to get up early and retire late. I'm OK with it because it's part of the lifestyle I chose as a WAHM. Being able to stay home to see my li'l lady grow up right before my eyes while pursuing a career from home is not so bad of a reward for days when I would lack some sleep, after all.  The stress that comes with this lifestyle is what I can't deny though. In fact, this blog is one of my ways to stay sane despite my irregular schedule and the mountain of responsibilities I face daily. It's not easy to be homemaking, parenting and freelancing all at the same time! This is why I decided to become a Relaxed Wahmmy no matter what. Being a Relaxed Wahmmy requires effort, patience and commitment. As a Relaxed Wahmmy, I need to make conscious effort to stay relaxed in trying situat

Who wants to be a Freelancer?

Like the Million Peso question! I've already used this title in a blog post to enlighten people of the realities of freelancing. Now, I'm going to use it again; not to 'scare' people away from freelancing, but to invite them to dive in and experience the future of work. Future of Work Friends have been asking me of the kind of work I do. It is always difficult to answer them straight every time because freelancing have already become a part of me; it's just difficult to define. The feeling resembles that of the difficulty one experiences as he struggles to find words to describe or introduce himself in an interview/crowd: You don't know if mentioning your singing abilities would be necessary or if you just have to leave it out. You think of what to tell them, but have no idea where to start even if you know yourself so well. That's exactly how I feel whenever I am asked what I do for a living. Most of the time, I can get away with saying that I work as

Relaxed Wahmmy's Story

I've read in a self-help book that writers write about things they need to learn themselves. Case in point; I am writing Relaxed Wahmmy because (1) I need to learn to relax and (2) I need to relearn how to become a WAHM. I am a Relaxed Wahmmy not because I am perfectly in control of my emotions, but because I sometimes am, and I try to be when I'm not. I am a work in progress. The roots of Relaxed Wahmmy can be traced back in 2009 when I first began to freelance and when I became a mother. I became both a freelancer and a parent without preparation. Bunch and I were both very young. We both don't have stable jobs. Bunch worked in Video City. I, on the other hand, had to resign from my job as a call center agent because graveyard shift wasn't healthy for my pregnancy. Our income was far from ideal for a couple starting a family. Our families both earn just enough for themselves-- extending help to us had not been easy for them. Needless to say; it was a very stressfu

Welcome to Relaxed Wahmmy!

I'm really excited to launch this blog. I had to wait months to make sure I was ready. My name is Clarisse; proud mommy to Isha, an amazing partner to Bunch (CLAIM IT!) and a freelancer. I am your resident Relaxed Wahmmy on this page. This is my calm (sometimes chaotic) blog about parenting, homemaking, freelancing and life in general.  A couple of things that you have to know about me; I love to eat more than I love to cook, which explains my never-ending weight loss journey.  I used to be a call center hopper. Now, I work from home and have been dancing to this crazy tune for a little over four years.  I triumphed over unemployment despite my lack of college degree! My story is not a fairy tale, but it is one worth sharing! There are times when all I really want to do is find a 'real job', but most of the time; I just sit on my desk and do BUSINESS!  I am proud of my daughter, and think she's the loveliest kid in the whole wide world. I would someda
