Fastfood Favorites at Home

Money management is a skill I seek to develop as a freelancer/WAHM and homemaker. I believe it is essential in my overall self-improvement especially since most things in life require resources to 'happen'. As a freelancer, I want to pursue plans of growing my freelance business, Happy Freelancing, and this requires money capital to happen. As a WAHM, I desire to continue to be the hands-on parent(s) that Bunch and I have always tried to be, and this requires financial support to Isha's dreams and activities. As a homemaker, I need to invest on tools and resources to help with housechores for effective time management and work-life balance. Financial freedom or the lack of it can make or break my short-term and long-term goals. I need to carefully look into our budget and improve in areas where I can. Food takes a huge chunk on our weekly budget. I believe this is normal for most of us, however; when unplanned dine-in and take-outs get in the picture; it becomes a whole ...

From Relaxed Wahmmy to Freelancing Wahmmy

I started this blog as Relaxed Wahmmy. Prior to setting up and writing on this blog; I have already written about my journey as a freelancer and my life as a mother on my other blogs. Blogging has always been a passion project-- one I do for myself. I expect no monetary return from it, but it still managed to bring me freebies (movie tickets, products, limited edition items). This blog is a blessing. I have always believed that my writing abilities are God's gift. He taught me how to write to help me travel through life. I have started writing in grade school, continued through high school, college, and to this day. I have won a few contests, contributed to school publications and earned money through my writing skills. Writing case studies and projects of friends helped support costs of studying in college. I also worked as Student Assistant in our University's Public Affairs Office, where I contributed news and feature articles in a newsletter for administrators, pro...

Relaxed Parenting Tuesday: Let's Work Together

My life at home is a beautiful mess. It's a combination of stress and less. Stress brought about by having one space for both work and play, and less on travel time, transportation costs, traffic hassles, expensive work lunches, etc. I love what I do. When my sister asked for my advice on a career change she had to make; I asked her to list down PROS and CONS for both her options and make a decision from there. If I have to take my own advice and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of working in the office VS working from home; the latter will obviously win. But working from home is never always bright and sunny. There are days of no work, days of tons of work and days of distraction. The last sounded like the worst! Although spelled differently from 'destruction'; it is equally damaging to mood and productivity. WAHMs and freelancers should avoid days of distraction at all cost. It is a form of wasting time that can otherwise be spent with valuable work, family...

What People Should Know About How I Work

Busy is a sickness  and I don't want it in my life. When life seems full, however; we're left with no option than to say we are busy for lack of a better term. Really, as much as I want to say I am not busy, I am, and there's no way I can sugarcoat it.  Being busy for all the good reasons should not be condemned. It is true that you find time for people, activities and things that matter to you, but when priorities step in the way; one has to schedule, plan and organize according to her priorities for the time being; not for the lot of things she holds dear to her heart. This is not only difficult for the busy person, but for the relationships and plans that have to wait for her to make time for them, too. This is the reason I am writing this blog post. True, I can't possibly make anyone feel better with my 'busy excuses', but explaining how I work may shed some light on the mystery of why Relaxed Wahmmy is so busy. Let's talk about what a ...

Wishin' On A KitKat Break

Juggle ongoing! As of this writing, li'l lady is already sound asleep with Bunch while I try to stay up to get some work done. For the past weeks, my crazy schedule has been to get up early and retire late. I'm OK with it because it's part of the lifestyle I chose as a WAHM. Being able to stay home to see my li'l lady grow up right before my eyes while pursuing a career from home is not so bad of a reward for days when I would lack some sleep, after all.  The stress that comes with this lifestyle is what I can't deny though. In fact, this blog is one of my ways to stay sane despite my irregular schedule and the mountain of responsibilities I face daily. It's not easy to be homemaking, parenting and freelancing all at the same time! This is why I decided to become a Relaxed Wahmmy no matter what. Being a Relaxed Wahmmy requires effort, patience and commitment. As a Relaxed Wahmmy, I need to make conscious effort to stay relaxed in trying situat...

Who wants to be a Freelancer?

Like the Million Peso question! I've already used this title in a blog post to enlighten people of the realities of freelancing. Now, I'm going to use it again; not to 'scare' people away from freelancing, but to invite them to dive in and experience the future of work. Future of Work Friends have been asking me of the kind of work I do. It is always difficult to answer them straight every time because freelancing have already become a part of me; it's just difficult to define. The feeling resembles that of the difficulty one experiences as he struggles to find words to describe or introduce himself in an interview/crowd: You don't know if mentioning your singing abilities would be necessary or if you just have to leave it out. You think of what to tell them, but have no idea where to start even if you know yourself so well. That's exactly how I feel whenever I am asked what I do for a living. Most of the time, I can get away with saying that I work as ...

Relaxed Wahmmy's Story

I've read in a self-help book that writers write about things they need to learn themselves. Case in point; I am writing Relaxed Wahmmy because (1) I need to learn to relax and (2) I need to relearn how to become a WAHM. I am a Relaxed Wahmmy not because I am perfectly in control of my emotions, but because I sometimes am, and I try to be when I'm not. I am a work in progress. The roots of Relaxed Wahmmy can be traced back in 2009 when I first began to freelance and when I became a mother. I became both a freelancer and a parent without preparation. Bunch and I were both very young. We both don't have stable jobs. Bunch worked in Video City. I, on the other hand, had to resign from my job as a call center agent because graveyard shift wasn't healthy for my pregnancy. Our income was far from ideal for a couple starting a family. Our families both earn just enough for themselves-- extending help to us had not been easy for them. Needless to say; it was a very stressfu...
