How to Start Freelancing SOON

This post originally appeared at www.freelancingwahmmy.wordpress.com on February 23, 2012 This blog has been up for almost a month now, but this will be the first time that I'll be writing on it. I have been very busy with many things-- Bunch landed a new job and we have to adjust to the changes in our schedule and routines, Isha's beginning to learn a lot of things (and they're making me crazy!), lots of cleaning up to do around our new apartment and I'm studying Social Media for a couple of projects on the subject. It was really difficult to find time to blog, but I have to. I promised my friends that I'll blog about working from home. I also promised myself that I'm going to commit to a one-post-per-week schedule on this blog. So, here I am; typing my way to my first blog post on this page and completely forgetting about the typical 'welcome post' aka 'hello world'. Welcome to my blog. I am Clarisse and I am a 'freelancin...

#CoffeeShopCamping: The Frap Bar, Hotel Lorita

It's not the first time that I tried to work in coffee shops. My 'coffice' search started (and failed) in 2012. There weren't many coffee shops in Bulacan back then, and freelancing was unheard of. It was difficult to find a coffee shop that welcomed remote workers. Fast forward to 2016. Entrepreneur Philippines now features freelancing/freelancers in its articles regularly. Independent contractors come up on Facebook from time to time to share their stories and excitement for the entire world to read. We're no longer unheard of. We're now a community that sparks interest from people looking for jobs or looking into the option of starting a service-based business from home. As for me, that's total of 5 years in freelancing, and just very recently-- in Tuguegarao City. A lot has changed, but the question of whether I will be able to find a coffee shop that will welcome me in their place still stands. Prior to moving to Tuguegarao City, I found...

Fastfood Favorites at Home

Money management is a skill I seek to develop as a freelancer/WAHM and homemaker. I believe it is essential in my overall self-improvement especially since most things in life require resources to 'happen'. As a freelancer, I want to pursue plans of growing my freelance business, Happy Freelancing, and this requires money capital to happen. As a WAHM, I desire to continue to be the hands-on parent(s) that Bunch and I have always tried to be, and this requires financial support to Isha's dreams and activities. As a homemaker, I need to invest on tools and resources to help with housechores for effective time management and work-life balance. Financial freedom or the lack of it can make or break my short-term and long-term goals. I need to carefully look into our budget and improve in areas where I can. Food takes a huge chunk on our weekly budget. I believe this is normal for most of us, however; when unplanned dine-in and take-outs get in the picture; it becomes a whole ...

From Relaxed Wahmmy to Freelancing Wahmmy

I started this blog as Relaxed Wahmmy. Prior to setting up and writing on this blog; I have already written about my journey as a freelancer and my life as a mother on my other blogs. Blogging has always been a passion project-- one I do for myself. I expect no monetary return from it, but it still managed to bring me freebies (movie tickets, products, limited edition items). This blog is a blessing. I have always believed that my writing abilities are God's gift. He taught me how to write to help me travel through life. I have started writing in grade school, continued through high school, college, and to this day. I have won a few contests, contributed to school publications and earned money through my writing skills. Writing case studies and projects of friends helped support costs of studying in college. I also worked as Student Assistant in our University's Public Affairs Office, where I contributed news and feature articles in a newsletter for administrators, pro...

Homemade Gourmet Tuyo

A couple of months ago, we tried to make our own Gourmet Tuyo in an effort to make filleted tuyo readily available for breakfast. Our little lady loves tuyo, but it is time consuming to fillet it for her while we are eating. We looked for Gourmet Tuyo in supermarkets in Bulacan, but found none; we thought that by making our own, we'll be addressing our need and may even be able to start a business out of it. Unfortunately, we find the cost of making Gourmet Tuyo expensive; it leaves no room for profit unless we will be willing to sell it at 25% mark up (even then, it will still be quite expensive). We left the business side of the project at that and just enjoyed our Gourmet Tuyo that week. Last week, I shared this attempt to sell Gourmet Tuyo on my Facebook Page . I remembered I have all these pictures taken of the process of making a jar of filleted tuyo in corn oil. I decided to share it here just in case readers want to try the recipe and/or sell Gourmet Tuyo (I hope they fi...

Happy Freelancing!

Happy Freelancing are words I use a lot. You'll see them on my blog posts, social media profiles and on my email signature. These words mean so much to me, and they can have meaning to you, too. Prior to claiming Relaxed Wahmmy's brand; Happy Freelancing was there providing me motivation to stay happy at work even during the toughest of times. Freelancing ain't easy, but I try my best to embrace it through thick and thin. It is my bread and butter, after all. I have to live it. I have to love it. And I am truly amazed with how God used freelancing to turn my life around. Happy Freelancing used to be just words that reflect how grateful I am of what I do. Through the years, it has taken on a different meaning; one that extends beyond my own freelance career-- it has become a freelance agency brand. Happy Freelancing (Agency) Happy Freelancing's business model is no rocket science. We find and get freelancers hired for homebased jobs, and we earn a comm...

Relaxed Parenting Tuesday: Let's Work Together

My life at home is a beautiful mess. It's a combination of stress and less. Stress brought about by having one space for both work and play, and less on travel time, transportation costs, traffic hassles, expensive work lunches, etc. I love what I do. When my sister asked for my advice on a career change she had to make; I asked her to list down PROS and CONS for both her options and make a decision from there. If I have to take my own advice and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of working in the office VS working from home; the latter will obviously win. But working from home is never always bright and sunny. There are days of no work, days of tons of work and days of distraction. The last sounded like the worst! Although spelled differently from 'destruction'; it is equally damaging to mood and productivity. WAHMs and freelancers should avoid days of distraction at all cost. It is a form of wasting time that can otherwise be spent with valuable work, family...
